Your Second Act in Life. What is it?

Imagine that your life is a masterpiece, maybe an opera, a ballet, or a theater performance. It might have one, two or more acts, the fact is that you’re the artist creating it, the director, you play the main role, you are the prima ballerina, the script writer, etc. But… what is a Second Act in life? And how can you make it even better than the previous one?

A Second Act is an opportunity to re-create your life; it doesn’t matter if the trigger is a divorce, career change, losing a long-term job, moving countries, your kids left home, etc.

In any case life is handing you a clean canvas to create a brand new chapter, a second act for your masterpiece.

How would you like your Second Act to be?

Having created Second Acts in my personal and professional life, I believe that what makes them meaningful is to have a clear vision of how you want it to feel, to look, to sound and to move.

It might sound like a cliché, but you are the creator of your life, you always can choose how to respond to what life brings on. Therefore, if you’re facing a Second Act in your life, then why don’t you claim it’s authorship? Why don’t you take the commitment to create a life that’s meaningful and fulfilling for you? Why don’t use it to reconnect with yourself and design and create your masterpiece?

Creating your Second Act is an exercise of pure self-love, it might be a journey to rediscover yourself, it can also be the path to a life with purpose, passion, joy and fulfilment, I know it firsthand.

Are you willing to claim the authorship of your Second Act?

Glad you said YES, because of that brave YES, I am sharing some tips to help you do it.

  • Preferably in the morning or just before going to bed, find a quiet and peaceful place where you can be alone and bring notebook and pencil with you.
  • To calm your mind, take few deep breaths, then write this question down: If I could create the life I want to live, how would it be, look and feel like?
  • Close your eyes and give yourself permission to dream. Imagine it’s 10 years from now and you’re living as you always wanted, feeling satisfied with who you are, what you do and what you have. Let your mind wander for few minutes.
  • Take few deep breaths, open your eyes and write down what you have seen, heard, felt while daydreaming. Write with no judgements, just let the words flow, notice the emotions you feel while you are writing your vision.

Now that you have written your Second Act, it’s time to begin to create it, what can you do today to give life to it?

I have a proposal for you, with that vision in mind, set 3 goals you would like to achieve in the next 12 weeks to advance towards your vision, one day and one action at a time.
